Cougars don’t roar. They scream, gosh darn it.
The cougar (also known as the mountain lion, catamount and various other names) is my No. 1 favorite cat in the world.
My beloved alma mater, Washington State University, has the cougar as its mascot (GO COUGS!). If I could have a pet cougar, I would.
It is such a beautiful animal. It is the strongest cat in the world, pound for pound, plus cougars are very fascinating creatures.
Just look at what the cubs look like. Cute, am I right?
But seriously, cougars do not roar. Cougars are related to the house cat. They are the largest “small cat” in the world because of their inability to roar.
This is why cougars can do house cat-like things such as purr (big cats such as lions cannot).
Whenever I see stuff like this below, it really grinds my gears.
Wrong. Just wrong.
Call it a scream, call it a growl, but it is never a roar. Scientifically impossible.
